Dangers are threats to a project and usually should be handled first. A danger is any task, sub-task, or item that can create additional work or set back the project if it is not taken care of in a certain manner or by a certain time. Dangers often are time-sensitive operations (TSO) such as deadlines for applications or payments. A time-sensitive operation is any item that has a start or finish date that will affect the overall project. A time-sensitive operation also can be a task-spinoff item. A task-spinoff item is any item that, if not completed, will keep an entirely separate part of the project from starting or completing. Time-sensitive operations and task-spinoff items, as you will see later, should be noted on the D/O List, so you can stay aware of matters that are hinge points for another item in the project.
If a task can be postponed without affecting the planned project outcome or keeping another part of the project from happening, then it is not a danger.
